I am the Preschool teacher. I am currently in my 26th year here at Our Lady of Peace. I absolutely love it here. I graduated from West Virginia University Summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Children’s Theater. I loved Puppetry and spent four years with WVU Puppet Mobil touring all the elementary schools in West Virginia. I received my teaching certification in education while in Graduate school at WVU. I have continued to take advantage of WV Governor’s Institute by taking graduate classes. This has kept me up on the latest in Early Childhood education. I received my certificate as an Autism Mentor from Marshall University.
I did my student teaching at Morgantown High in Morgantown, West Virginia. I taught preschool at Mt. Olivet Church in Santa Monica, California. Upon returning to Wheeling, I was hired as the preschool teacher at Leaps and Bounds Preschool. I worked there for three years taking a break upon the birth of my last child. I’m the proud parent of three children. I was hired as the first teacher of the OLP Preschool. That was 26 years ago and I have never left.
I firmly believe in Catholic School Education. I was lucky enough to have my youngest child attend OLP. This gave me the personal experience of being a parent of a student here. I believe in fostering positive self-concepts, discovering God’s marvelous creation, appreciating God’s goodness and love, and teaching Christian attitudes and actions towards others. At OLP, I have been able to strive for a parent-teacher partnership as we work together to help children establish firm foundations for their faith development.
