Mrs. Marissa Pinkston
My name is Marissa Pinkston, and I am proud to be a teacher at Our Lady of Peace School, my alma mater and a place that has always held a special place in my heart. I graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University and I have found deep joy and purpose in returning to the school that helped shape who I am today.
Catholic education is a core value in my life, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share that foundation of faith, learning, and service with my students each day. It is a blessing to be part of a school community where both spiritual and academic growth are nurtured.
Outside of the classroom, I am happily married to my husband, Tyler, of 7 years and a mother to three wonderful children: Jameson (4), Paisley (2), and Peyton (3 months). They keep me busy and remind me daily of the importance of love, patience, and joy—qualities I strive to bring into my teaching as well.
I look forward to a year full of learning, laughter, and faith-filled experiences with my students and their families!

This summer your child will need to read “Matilda” by Roald Dahl. Reading
over the summer is very important because it develops the mind. This book can be
purchased in many places or borrowed from the library. Students will need to
answer the questions provided and turn them in on the first day of school. We will
discuss this book and take a test when school resumes in August. The 2nd book will
be a book of their choice.
Your child will need to complete the enclosed math packet. Our math series
is My Math by McGraw Hill. Please be sure multiplication and division tables
from 0-12 are mastered to ease their transition into more mental math in
fifth grade. I have attached a list of websites that are fun and can re-establish
skills learned in years past.
Summer is also a great time to start talking about ideas for the Social
Studies Fair this upcoming year. This will be their first time participating in the
Social Studies Fair. This presentation will be given at the Academic Fair during
Catholic Schools week.
Congratulations, your child is now on their way to being a fifth grader. The
summer reading and math work will be their first grades of the first nine weeks of
school. It is important for them to do well.
Love and Blessings,
Mrs. Ferrera
